The Midwest Archaeological Conference (MAC) 2012 is now accepting proposals for symposia, papers, and posters for their annual meeting at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan from October 18 – 21, 2012.  Proposals are open to any topics on the prehistory, ethnohistory, or historical archaeology of the Midwestern United States.  

Papers, symposia and poster abstracts due by September 7, 2012. All presenters must register for the conference and be 2012 MAC, Inc. members.

Please note, conference registration and payment of all conference fees must be done through the MAC, Inc. website (http://www.midwestarchaeology.org) and at the same time as paper, poster, or symposium submission.

Submission Guidelines

  1. You must be an active 2012 member of MAC to submit a proposal as a primary paper/poster author or symposium organizer. Secondary authors do not have to be active members, but are encouraged to join.
  2. Join/renew your MAC membership at www.midwestarchaeology.org/membership/
  3. Paper presentations are limited to 15 minutes, which is equal to 6 to 8 double-spaced pages of text.
  4. There is no limit on the number of paper/poster proposals that each attendee can submit.
  5. Symposia are limited to 15 participants per session, which includes both papers and discussants. If you have more than 15, then please divide into two symposia.
  6. Please note, symposia will not automatically be scheduled with additional time for introduction, etc.
  7. Each meeting room will have an LCD project, laptop, and microphone. Additional A/V needs are the responsibility of the presenter.
  8. Poster presentations are for 2 hours and the author(s) of each is requested to spend the majority of this time with the poster for discussion with conferees.
  9. Posters are limited in size to 36” high x 72” wide and should include the title, name of author(s), affiliation of author(s), and abstract.
  10. Poster presenters are also encouraged to provide handouts that contain the poster text, selected images, and/or references.
